History and Purpose of the NJM Gallery
In May of 1993, the husband and wife team of Lee and Lois Kupersmith opened the Not Just Mud! Gallery for the purpose of displaying and selling their own fun and functional pottery, plus the finest in contemporary, handblown glass being created by artists from all around the United States. The idea was simple -- after quitting their “real” jobs to concentrate on pottery, they decided that traveling around to display their pottery at craft shows all over the northeast was fun but there was just too much packing and unpacking involved. The next step was to combine two of their loves - creating pottery and collecting beautiful glass. From that beginning, NJM Gallery was born.
NJM Gallery's web site began in June 1995, making it the first gallery online, and the only one specializing in art glass for a long time. The site is a dynamic catalog of our gallery's current display. Including approximately 350 pages, individual web pages are updated daily as pieces come and go. As some artists are more popular than others, some pages are updated more often than orthers. If you are a regular visitor to our site (and we hope you will be), probably the most important page for you will be the New Arrivals page. We don't have a preset schedule for updating this page as it is dependent on the arrival of new work, but during much of the year it gets updated anywhere from 1 to 10 times a week.
We like to feature different artists on the gallery cards that we include with purchases. Below are copies of different gallery cards we've had over the years. Click on any card to view in full size. We are missing some so if you have one not shown here, please email us a good quality scan of the card and we'll add it to the display. By the way, we're often asked about the odd name many of you still know us by... Not Just Mud!. If you haven't figured out by now, Not Just Mud! grew out of our beginnings as a pottery. As we evolved into an art glass gallery, the name was shortened to become NJM Gallery. Entire contents © Copyright 1995-2012 Not Just Mud!, All Rights Reserved

Since opening, the gallery has grown by constantly adding wonderfully talented glass artists. Our goal is to offer you the finest in handblown art glass at reasonable prices. You won't find artists like Dale Chihuly or Lino Tagliapietra present here. Although 'glass geniuses', their pricing is out of reach of most collectors. However, many of our artists have studied at the Pilchuck Glass Center, some have even blown glass for Chihuly in the past. You may not even recognize some of the names of our artists but we always try to present the works of an extremely talented group of artists who balance making a living while still offering their creations at reasonable prices. Many of our artists work alone or with only one or two assistants. Their personal dedication to the work makes each piece special.
